What's Your Name, Cub?

Scar flopped onto his side after arriving at his normal spot he tended to frequent when attempting to escape the disappointed stares from his father. He was not the perfect creature that his brother was, and thus was looked down upon for his character, personality, as well as his choice of companions. The hyenas were quite repulsive and pathetic at times, but weren't ever a real threat; Ahadi was completely over-exaggerating the danger.

So once again he was laying on his outcropping, sleeping away the day. He did not mind it, there was nothing of importance for him to involve himself in at Pride Rock; and even if there was, it didn't matter to him anymore. He released a wet sigh through his nose as he rested his chin onto the flat, stone ground. After no more than a minute, a strange and unfamiliar scent wafted by. He chose not to open his eyes in the hopes that the stranger would go about its way and leave him be; although, the slight irritation of his tail caused him to open an eye.

He could not see anything at first; he would only feel the continuous annoying of his tail. Scar cleared his throat, not wanting to have to move to inspect the stranger. Seeing it as a cue to come into his focus, a small cub bounded over beside him. The cub smelled of a female, and also of annoyance.
"Hi, mister," she spoke with a slight rasp to her voice.

"Although I really don't care, would you please explain to me the reasoning behind your pestering me? Have you not taken notice that I'm asleep," Scar growled quietly out of irritation.

"Oh, sorry," she frowned, flattening her ears as she sat down. "It's just that, you're the first lion I have seen in a while and I was hoping-"

"Hoping what; that'd I'd be your playmate," he sneered while rolling his eyes. Scar released a snuff form his nose and closed his eyes once again. "Why don't you find your mother somewhere, I'm sure she's worried about you or something."

There was a brief silence after his statement that made even Scar slightly uneasy. When he realized that he did not get a response in the amount of time he expected, he opened his left eye once again. The cub was haunched over with her nose close to the ground. She sniffed as a tear streaked down her cheek.

Scar sighed as he lifted his head from it's resting position and looked to her full front. "I didn't insult you or hurt your feel-"

"I don't know where my mommy is," she finally stated, another sniff of sadness following.

Scar studied the cub as he finally took in her current figure. She was pretty patted as if she had not been cleaned properly for quite some time and seemed a bit too skinny for a cub. It seemed she had been alone for more than just a few hours. With a sigh, Scar rolled his eyes, "Well, I guess you can hang around a while until she comes for you."

The cub's ears perked up immediately while she gave him a bright, toothy smile. "You mean it, Mister?"

"I guess, and would you stop it with the mister," he sighed as he rested his chin back onto the ground. Before nodding off he opened an eye once again back to the cub. "What's your name, cub?"

"Zira!"
